What is the Innovation Fund?

Imagine a fuel injection system for clean energy innovation—the Innovation Fund provides financial support to bring industrial solutions to market, helping to decarbonize Europe while driving economic growth. The fund is aimed at projects that:

Advance low-carbon technologies in manufacturing and industry
Improve carbon capture, storage, and utilization
Develop next-generation renewable energy and energy storage
Support electric vehicle battery manufacturing

Who Can Apply?

The fund is open to companies, SMEs, research organizations, and public institutions from across the EU and beyond. While applications are open globally, project activities must take place in an EU Member State.

The Spring 2025 Call offers funding across five key areas:

  1. Large, Medium, and Small-Scale Projects

From pilot initiatives to full-scale commercial projects, this category funds innovative low-carbon technologies across multiple industries.

  1. Manufacturing Projects

Supports renewable energy installations, electrolysers, fuel cells, energy storage, and heat pumps—essential building blocks for a clean energy future.

💰 Funding per project: Minimum €2.5M

  1. Pilots Call

A testbed for highly innovative, deep-decarbonization solutions across all sectors, even if they are not yet fully commercialized.

  1. Battery Manufacturing for Electric Vehicles

Designed to boost Europe’s battery industry, this track funds advanced EV battery cell production with high-impact emission reduction potential.
